BizTalk consultant for operations, health checks, performance and upgrades.

IvaltiCare GmbH, based in Leverkusen, Germany, advises organisations that run Microsoft BizTalk Server in production. Daniel Ivanovic has worked with BizTalk for over 18 years, on single interfaces as well as on entire integration platforms. We find the causes of backlogs and errors, make operations predictable again and prepare the replacement before the end of support forces it.

Services

Where we help.

From the first health check to the upgrade: we work on BizTalk environments in production and measure before we change anything.

01 / Analysis

BizTalk health check

We check your environment with the BizTalk Health Monitor and our own SQL queries. You receive a report with prioritised actions. Each action comes with a verification step and a rollback path in case it does not work as planned.

  • MessageBox and tracking database
  • Host instances and SQL Agent jobs
  • Throttling states and adapter settings
02 / Throughput

Performance and throughput

Messages pile up in the MessageBox, send ports slow down, BizTalk throttles itself. We measure first and then make targeted changes, for example to the maxconnection limit in BTSNTSvc.exe.config or BTSNTSvc64.exe.config, to the assignment of applications to hosts or to throttling thresholds. We verify every change with performance counters and netstat before it goes into production.

03 / Stability

Troubleshooting and stabilisation

Suspended messages, zombie messages, hanging orchestrations, databases that keep growing: we find the cause, clean up the backlog in a controlled way and make sure the error does not come back.

04 / Development

Development and extension

We build new interfaces, orchestrations, maps and pipeline components. We deliver them with automated deployment and documentation your team can keep working with.

  • SAP via IDoc and BAPI
  • EDI partners via EDIFACT and AS2
  • SFTP, SQL Server and REST services
05 / Upgrade

Upgrade to BizTalk Server 2020

Support for BizTalk Server 2016 ends on 11 January 2027. If a replacement is not feasible by then, an upgrade to BizTalk Server 2020 provides security updates until 9 April 2030. A direct upgrade is possible from BizTalk Server 2016, while older versions need new servers. Licences should be bought before the expected end of sale on 31 March 2027. Microsoft itself recommends moving directly to Azure Logic Apps. We work out with you which route fits your timeline.

Preparing the replacement

We catalogue all orchestrations, maps, pipelines, ports and adapters and rate them by risk and business value. Microsoft recommends Azure Logic Apps as the successor. We assess with you whether that route fits and deliver the replacement in .NET.

Versions and dates

Which BizTalk versions we support.

We support BizTalk Server 2010, 2013, 2013 R2, 2016 and 2020, each with the matching versions of SQL Server and Windows Server. Daniel Ivanovic has worked with eight BizTalk versions, from BizTalk Server 2004 to 2020.

BizTalk Server 2020 is the final version. Since December 2025 Microsoft has officially named Azure Logic Apps as the successor to BizTalk Server. Whether that route suits you depends on factors such as where your systems run, how far you already use Azure and your data sovereignty requirements. We assess this with you and deliver the replacement in .NET.

Frequently asked

Good to know.

What does a BizTalk consultant do?
A BizTalk consultant analyses, runs and develops integrations on Microsoft BizTalk Server: interfaces to SAP, EDI partners and other systems, orchestrations, maps and pipelines. The work includes performance tuning, troubleshooting and planning the replacement, because BizTalk Server 2020 is the final version of the product.
How does a BizTalk health check work?
We get access to the BizTalk and SQL servers, remotely or on site, run the BizTalk Health Monitor and analyse the MessageBox, tracking, SQL Agent jobs and host configuration. We then discuss the results with you and hand over a written report with prioritised actions.
Which BizTalk versions do you support?
BizTalk Server 2010, 2013, 2013 R2, 2016 and 2020, each with the matching versions of SQL Server and Windows Server. Microsoft recommends Azure Logic Apps as the successor. We assess with you whether that route fits and deliver the replacement in .NET.
How long will BizTalk Server be supported?
Support for BizTalk Server 2016 ends on 11 January 2027. BizTalk Server 2020 is the final version: mainstream support ends on 11 April 2028 and extended support with security updates on 9 April 2030.
Do you offer on-call support or help with incidents?
We offer on-call support and help with incidents by arrangement, for example during critical cut-over phases. We do not offer 24/7 support with fixed response times.
What does BizTalk consulting cost?
That depends on the scope. As a starting point we offer an assessment of your BizTalk environment. Price and scope are agreed after a short initial call.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. Most analysis and development work is done remotely. For workshops and cut-overs we work on site, mainly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
